Compliant bats shall bear this stamp on the barrel

Beginning January 1, 2018, Little League (along with all other major youth baseball organizations) will be implementing the new USA Baseball Bat StandardPlease note that all bats approved for the 2017 season will no longer be acceptable for use in any Little League game or activity. In 2018 all bats must bear the USA Baseball logo signifying the bat meets USA Bat Standard (0.5 BPF and barrel diameter not exceeding 2-5/8).

Little League explanation of the new rule, which includes a detailed video, can be found at http://www.littleleague.org/learn/equipment/baseballbatinfo.htm

The only exception is that Tee Ball bats approved for 2017 can be certified for use in 2018 using an Approved Tee Ball Sticker via the USA Baseball Tee Ball Sticker Program

It is important for our parents to understand this new bat requirement for upcoming bat purchase decisions. Also, please understand that Saratoga Springs Little League is obligated to enforce the new standard in the upcoming season. The new standard is not optional for the league to implement.

Compliant bats must have the stamp pictured above visible somewhere on the barrel.

To help ease the transition, Saratoga Springs Little League plans to acquire a small number of approved bats. Ideally each coach will be supplied a bat with their coaching equipment, but exactly what will be available and how it will be made available will be worked out in the coming months.
